Houston (CBS Houston) – The Texans never even got going Sunday as the Rams crushed the Texans 38-13. Matt Schaub and the Texans offense twice settled for field goals in the run heavy first half. They entered the locker room down only 17-6.

The third quarter proved to be disastrous for the Texans.  The Rams scored a touchdown on a four yard catch by Brian Quick to take a 24-6 lead.  On the ensuing kickoff Keshawn Martin fumbled the return which was recovered by St. Louis and taken back for a Rams touchdown and a 31-6 lead.

Matt Schaub left the game with a leg injury after being sacked by Chris Long.  T.J. Yates entered the game to cheers from the Texans faithful.

The change of quarterback did not change the fortune of the Texans, however.  T.J. Yates threw an interception that was returned for a 98-yard touchdown by Alec Ogletree to make it 38-6. Yates would follow up with another redzone interception to swiftly quiet those calling for him to be the starting quarterback.

The Texans finally got into the endzone on a one yard rush by Ben Tate in the fourth quarter.  It was the first touchdown by the Texans since the second quarter against the Seattle Seahawks in week 4.  That is a span of 9 quarters and 12-plus minutes of overtime.

Arian Foster had 20 carries for 141 to lead the Texans in offense.  The Texans out gained the Rams 427 to 213 but two turnovers returned for touchdowns doomed the Texans and pushed them to 2-4 on the season.  The Rams improve to 3-3 on the season.

The Texans have lost four straight games.
